Is Ask to Hang Out broken?

Sometimes one of my sims friends will call and ask them if they want to come over. I always click yes and then nothing happens. Sure, I can just manually send my sim over to that person's house but I always thought my sim should automatically head over once I click yes. I swear that's how it worked before?

  • This problem has happened in my game too. (And I play with disks) And I too swear it happened before a patch update.

Another one is where someone calls your sim and asks them if they want to hang out and you have them say, "Sure, let's meet here" (at their house) and then the friend never shows up.
  • And then there's the times you get a call offering a date, you accept enthusiastically, and the next thing you know a box of what looks like dried fruit ends up on your doorstep.

Oh wait, that's real life not the game. I do get them confused sometimes. :/
  • I don’t remember that to ever work in my game. I just click yes or no to shut the dialog and forget about it. I used to try to get them to meet up but nothing ever seemed to happen.

I don't know about it being broken as I've never had my Sim automatically go to meet up with another unless it was a specific event or opportunity driven like with World Adventures.

In my game, when a Townie phones my Sims to hang out and I accept the offer, my Sim doesn't automatically head out to meet them, I have to send them. However, the Sim who called has been known to wait for my Sim to get there and they do indeed hang out (actually, autonomously spending time together).

Other times, I'll agree to have them 'hang out' and the Townie Sim will call back to say something has come up, they can't get together at that time (which I personally think is thoughtfully cool). When that happens, I track the Townie down to see what came up and every time (so far) something has indeed happened which called them away.

    Interesting, thank you for sharing!
  • I've had the same experiences as @mw1525
When other sims call and ask to hang out, the game leaves it to me to send my sim to the other persons house, after clicking the "I'll come over" option.
I'm pretty sure that there used to be a reminder pop-up, like when you are about to send your sim on a date, and it says you shouldn't keep them waiting, but I don't recall getting that now for years.
I use so many mods to suppress things, or change things, I am not sure if it's one of those, or just a usual EA mess-up.

Either way, the sims have to be sent manually.
