Is the exchange safe? What about The Sims Resource? What are some good cc sites?

So I heard that the Sims 3 exchange is the worst place to download from. But I really like the clothes,hair,etc.I don't download lots or Sims, because that is bad and i know that. But how bout the clo...

So the exchange is a big no no isn't it? Well I guess that answers it. But I would like to hear from people that have experiences with TSR since some people say it is safe, and some people say it is not, I am very confused!
