I had this exact same glitch in another one of my games but it was when a child was becoming a teen. Even with the inability to sleep. What I had to do was go into a save from before the first birthday action, enter CAS, save to the bin, make a new family but age her up from a child to a teen in CAS as well as a throwaway adult, merge them with my family, use mastercontroler to add the new version to the family tree and remove the bugged version from the family tree, and then kick out the old version and the adult. I could not find any other way around it and I searched quite a bit.
It's a bit trickier though with him being an adult going to elder. He'd lose all his relationships, skill points, lifetime rewards, etc. I wouldn't personally count it as cheating if you were to do the above but write down/take screenshots of all his skills and whatnot and then use mastercontroler/cheats to put him back the way he was as best as possible.
Thank you! I'm am such a n00b when it comes to mods that I didn't even know I could change his skills and stuff if I were to add a debugged Kenneth to the household. Honestly I was just going to keep the bugged version and age up the bugged version in CAS using mastercontroler, but I like the thought of Kenneth not glitching again (hopefully). I'm going to play around with it today and try to figure out how to do what you suggested. It would be nice to have a debugged Kenneth (he's been buggy since he was a teen hence the ENTIRE reason why the Kooks had to move towns thanks to his buggy IF and buggy relationship panel. Ugh.) :)
I hope you figure it out! I know when my sim was bugged I couldn't even go into CAS after the birthday action. It would just spin and load forever. And when I tried with the earlier version (that I saved and then made a copy of) something else happened. I can't remember what exactly. I think maybe it wouldn't let me save her as a teen so I couldn't leave CAS with the bugged version. Or it could have been that she still couldn't sleep... but there was a reason I didn't just do that.
