Island Paradise lagging...help please. :)

Yes, afraid you are now the 500,001st player to encounter Isla Paradiso's flaws. It was the worst EP world that EA ever designed. Most of the threads discussing Isla P and what's wrong with it can be found on the Expansion Packs section of this forum, there are as said tons of them especially back closer to when the game was released.

You can evict the Scott household by way of Edit Town if you want, but it's the houseboat port/lot that is flawed, not the sims. And there are many other far-reaching issues with the world beyond that.

The path of least resistance is to use a player fixed up version, all ready to go as a saved game to load up, rather than trying to fix your existing one. But @ciane, the same player, also provides pages of instructions and details on what she has done to make the world playable for the Do It Yourself type crowd.

The alternative is to not play in that world. The EP itself is fine and its content works in other worlds. Resorts can be placed anywhere. On deep sea diving, the placement of the required underwater lots is very tricky though and the water is not deep enough in many other worlds. Hidden islands need to be established during a world's creation. But there are many player-made custom worlds out there for when you are ready to explore those, some meant to have tropical climates (if you have Seasons) and themes but some not so much, that include these things for the player to explore and without all the design flaws.

There is another world fixed which is made by ellacharmed. Unfortunately she had a family issue that has prevented her from continuing with her project. She took the world into Create a World and fixed many of the issues found in it. I use this version of the world. I replaced the world file in my ProgramFiles(x86) folder so I load it up as usual.

Unfortunately she did nothing about the broken lots. So none of ciane's fixes are in it.

I tend to use ellacharmed's fixed world and do a couple of the bigger fixes that ciane did and leave it at that. I can play without many problems and currently have several ongoing games in Isla Paradiso. I have noticed though, that each save is different and some just start lagging straight away and others never seem to lag.

I do have my settings all on high so this encourages all sorts of lag for other reasons.

If you decided to use another world inseatd of IP and want to add dive lots, I've recently made a video tutorial and put it on YouTube. That shows how I build my own dive lots in other worlds. It is done in a step by step sort of a way to make it easy to follow what can be a confusing process. In the end it turns out it is quite a simple process to make a dive lot once you know how to do it.

Okay, I confess that I use Ellacharmed's fixed underlying .world file myself. When my long running ongoing game ventured into Isla Paradiso, ciane had not yet worked her magic and made it available as she has since, this was years ago. So for the lot-specific fixes, I ended up in the Do It Ourselves group but only working through around five of the major residential lot fixes that were necessary before the world became playable for me. And a hefty dose of NRaas mods also helps. Some of the other residentials still need fixing (front doors badly placed, sims who live there have to run all the way around the lot to get in and out, nothing game breaking but such things just look ridiculous and most resident townies often end up late for work, to those paying attention to such things). But I'm only a light IP player, none of my sims actually live there but I use the world as a custom vacation destination (Traveler mod) for relatively brief visits.

The resident lots I replaced and moved the sims elsewhere were Scott (of course), Ichtaca, Los Amigos, and Medina. I also moved most of the residents off of houseboats and found them housing inland but I kept the houseboat port lots in place in case I ever wanted to use any of them again. The resident ghost family living on a houseboat stayed in place and they seemed fine.

But both solutions can be used at the same time if one want to, even though ciane's ready to go save was not created with Ellacharmed's fixes in place first.

Does any of that override what you've already done or accomplished in game thus making you do it over again (such as career/education/relationships etc)? And don't ask me to build anything lol half the time I can't even get a basic pool right.

You would have to start the game over (save your households to the bin and place them in a newly started game) in order to use ciane's saved game file as a new starting point.

Ellacharmed's underlying .world file may or may not have some benefit to an already ongoing game, but probably not as much as otherwise and by itself does not go far enough to make the world playable for most. You would still have to do something with at least the four households I just listed and probably do something with the absurd number of other households all living on houseboats.

If you use the world file from Ellacharmed it only applies to a new save. It does nothing to the existing save.

If you manually remove buildings etc then that only affects the existing save. You'd have to save the file after fixing everything manually and then always use that file to start a new game if you go the manual way.

I prefer to use the world replacement file and then bulldoze a couple of buildings to get a playable world. I never remember to use a pre-prepared world file to start a new game. Except in some special situations. What I will do to a world, if I have placed heaps of lots I've made myself in it and want to have it as an long term ongoing world is I will note where I placed all of the various lots and make a clean version of it so I can just port my sims into it when the original save starts becoming unplayable.

I use NRAAS Porter mod to port a whole town's population into a new save. That maintains relationships and skills etc...

The only mods I found I needed to get Isla Parasiso working was NRAAS Overwatch and Error Trap. I do have lots more mods in now though. But in the beginning I just started with mods and those were to two I used and they fixed my problems back then.

I've been making two video series set in Isla Paradiso and putting them on YouTube. One of them is now up to Episode 60 and has a very overstuffed household. Meaning I've got more than 8 sims living in the household plus pets. That game was started back at the end of 2016. I posted my first video on Jan 1 2017. The Isla Paradiso part of it is pretty much unplayable now and became that way probably in around November 2017. I move the household to Sunlit Tides about then.

I think we may have had this discussion before. I always thought this too, but have no first-hand experience one way or the other to fall back on. Our developers at NRaas and our CAW using members claim otherwise, although they all agree that any benefits obtained from a fixed world file on an already existing save are minimal, and in some instance can actually get in the way of things if the player has placed tons of new lots on the world first. But they have pretty much proven (amongst themselves anyway) that changing the .world file can impact an already existing game save in some ways.

I would also suggest Register to help suppress the unwanted overflow of behind the scenes resort lot maintenance workers (although Overwatch will notice and clean those up eventually as well) and for its Animal Control if Pets is in play. The world is not very pet friendly, especially when it comes to strays and wild horses.
