I would always try to manually empty out things from the family inventory like collectibles before deleting them with my Mods because I don't want to lose everything and it's best to switch households to do inventory checks to make sure inactives aren't filling household inventories with things meant for the sim inventory.You'd need to move these items to the personal inventory.I could see doing a manual clean up at least every time you switch if you only have two families in the world.
