I use Nraas SP and I don't totally micromanage the entire town but I do make sure that nothing hinky is going on. I populate my towns myself and keep an eye on them as they pair up and if I find a sims aren't pairing up and wasting good genetics I do something about it. I also spend an hour or more each sim day (in the case of this short save, there can be 6 or more birthdays each day) in CAS making sure everyone looks acceptable in case my sims need to deal with them and to keep tabs on which kids are suitable as future partners for my sims' offspring.
