Loud Click Volume

When I'm in The Sims 3, clicking on anything is very loud. This is most annoying when looking for hidden doors etc in WA tombs. I've tried "Options/Sound" but click volume doesn't seem to be affected. There are no click sounds for other programs on the computer (that I notice anyway). Any idea how to turn of click sounds in The Sims 3?
