Mermaid Problem

@KATENESS I don't know anything about mermaids but I know that @Karritz has solved many mermaid problems in her own game. Perhaps she can help you.

My inclination would be to take the Mermaid occult state away from these sims using MasterController's Add/Remove Occult, then give it back again (MC Cheats required) and MC Reset the sims. Trying to take occult states away or add them in CAS for an already existing sim doesn't typically do what one expects, CAS is really more about sims' appearances than occult abilities.

But I defer to @Karritz of course if she has a better solution.

I have this problem too. I've described it and my solution in some of my mermaid videos. The thing I do is I use Master Controller to remove and then add the mermaid occult to them. This gives them the default scales - purple for female and blue for males. When they get out of the water and back in again they get their tails.

I've got the correct scale colours written down somewhere. I'll post them for you later if you want them.

Thanks @Karritz! I don't mind not having the right scale colors. I just want mermaids to look like mermaids. And I am curious to know why they're broken.

Thanks Sima @SimplyJen :D I did look into fixing the lag problems before I started playing. I tried to download the fixed IP world from MTS but my brain broke about halfway through because I couldn't figure out where my program files are, instead of just documents. So I scrapped it and thought, "eh I'll just play like a half-legacy with my own rules."

It's been sort of laggy now and then but just when I think I need to find a way to fix it, it stops. My biggest problem has been these human looking mermaids. :/

I really only even want to try to play to earn the IP badges. I don't care much about anything else.

This is the link to EllaCharmed version of Isla Paradiso. It is just a single world file. It is the one I use. Instructions on where to put it are on the site. Just keep a backup of the version you installed from disk when you installed the Island Paradise EP. Just in case you don't like it.

I don't remember which of the mermaid videos I have fixed the mermaids in. I know I did it a few times in the early episodes of the Isla Paradiso Bunch. They tried to get all the IP Badges but failed. This was due to having a big household.

Caroline and Friends was my latest attempt to get all the IP badges. She is in a single household and did manage to get all of the badges for me but I haven't posted them all yet. There are many videos to come with that particular story. There will be mermaid fixes in early episodes of it too I suspect.

Then there are the actual mermaid videos - There will be fixes in the early videos of them too. I've done such a lot of mermaid videos though.

I downloaded the fixed ellacharmed world. But I didn't see where to put the file on the website. I'm feeling either dumb or blind. I just put the file in the IP folder. :/

I opened up a new game in IP and tried it, but I don't know if it's the fixed world or not. How do you know if it's fixed? I used Nraas to try to change a mermaid's scales, but again she had no scales to change. I don't have the MC cheats extension so I didn't try to change her from mermaid to human to mermaid again.

I was hoping the fixed world might fix the mermaids altogether. But since I don't even know if I got the fixed world or not, I just don't know what I'm doing. Ugh.

What we are meant to do is remove the stock IP world and replace it with EllaCharmed's. We can't have both of them in play at the same time, they would conflict with each other. If you did not remove the stock world first because you did not see it, then you were in the wrong place within the Program Files. Unfortunately I doubt that her fixed world will have any impact on mermaids, though.

And I would strongly advise adding in MC Cheats to fix the mermaid issue. The add-on doesn't really add much in the way of measurable overhead to the game, in fact none of MC does. It's true that it's a very complex mod, but once the game loads up it doesn't really have anything to do until the player calls upon one of its menu commands unlike, say, StoryProgression that is running and using up game resources all of the time.
