I have a playable mermaid and for some reason she and none of the NPC mermaids have visable tails. They move their legs as in the tail animation underwater but sim like a normal sim above the surface of the water. Oddly I don't have this issue with the mermaid my sim met in the university world(I made a dive lot there) Is anyone else having this issue?(or know of a way to fix it?)

I am having a similar problem. I made a sim into a mermaid with the happiness reward and she looked normal with a proper tail and scales, but when I sent her out into the sea to look for other mermaids I couldn't find any. Turns out that they all looked like normal sims in normal clothing (not even swim or scuba wear) under water, it was really odd looking. Just bought this expansion a few days ago and saw my first mermaid today, actually I saw a few and none of them had a tail. They are all npcs so I am not going to try and have them all look into mirrors to color non-existent scales and nraas's mod does not permit recoloring scales. However, clicking on City Hall, nraas, options: civic center, Fix invisible sims, gives the mermaids their special outfits which can then be put on them with nraas, master controller, basic and outfit, even in the water although they do still swim funny. I am hoping that goes away with time or I will give them a special outfit to set them apart from normal humans and forget about the tails, scales and whatever. Not sure how I would have solved this without mods and I am a bit annoyed that this is happening at all, it just goes to show how many things are glitched. I think the biggest reason is that not everyone has all the previous expansions installed. In many cases, unless you order them online, they aren't readily available any more without going on a real quest to find the missing expansions and I am just not that big a fan to do that.The way I solved the problem is but another option, if somebody is having problems with anything mentioned before.

This had never happened to me, and I could always see the tails underwater, but today for the first time the mermaid had no tail and I freaked out! So I'd also like a way to fix this please EA!

I have never had that problem. they always have tails in my game.

@MissMargaret0151, it might be best to post over in The AHQ site being that I see that you play TS4 as this thread is about Sims 3 mermaids. So the solution for TS3 mermaids might not be the same solution for Sims 4 mermaids... :)
