Misunderstood Part 17:

The boys had been adjusting to their first year in High School, they have been attending for a month now and were getting into the swing of things, making friends, taking challenging classes, doing afterschool activities and getting part time jobs...

The boys were out goofing off after school one boring Thursday afternoon...their Principal Mr. Alto approached the boys just to be sure there was no mischief going on...

The boys all knew Mr. Alto, he had a nice guy reputation with the kids and everyone liked him.

The only brother who didn't seem to be enthralled with Mr. Alto was Jared, he liked him well enough but something about him bugged Jared so he kept his distance after a friendly greeting.

Exactly One Year and 3 Months after Paulo's birth.....
Caroline and Joe have been having issues with their marriage since Paulo's birth, it was very difficult for Caroline to be home with Paulo. She was feeling lonely as Joe was always at work and though he did play with Paulo when he was home on weekends is was more of a snuggle here and there rather than real help like changing diapers, or putting down for a nap or even amusing Paulo so Caroline could get out of the house for a little time to herself. Caroline was resentful and pulled away from Joe...not healthy at all.
Bert had been in town for awhile now with his new job as the Principal of the High School and decided now was a good time to see if Caroline was in any mood to go out with him for a drink, she should have forgiven him for his dalliance by now he figured.
Caroline agreed to meet him, she was at a low point in her life and figured a night out even if it was with Bert was better than nothing.
She agreed to meet him not for a drink as she knew what happened to Bert after a few drinks (he got very handsy), they met up by the camping grounds....it was nice and quiet and hopefully no one would be around to hear the screaming...
She had thought their breakup would be fine and not effect her as they had been barely a couple for awhile, but when she finally got away from Bert she found she really missed him and was annoyed with his cheating behavior. It hadn't been the first time after all...and it hurt.
Caroline started in on Bert the second she spotted him...he had broken her heart after all...must be a trait of the Alto boys Caroline thought bitterly to herself.

Bert tried to calm Caroline down, but she needed to purge her sadness and anger...

Caroline eventually broke down and started crying, they had not talked since the day she caught him with the tramp and though she didn't think it mattered as she was over Bert it obviously bothered her deep inside.
Bert calmly and gently expressed his regret for his poor decisions in their relationship, he meant it too, he could be a heartless bas*tar*d but he did care for Caroline.

Bert's confession touched Caroline, she never though he cared about anyone other than himself, he was proving her wrong.

So when Bert suggested they find somewhere to get cozier Caroline was into the idea....

Bert drove about 30 miles over the speed limit to get to the only cheap motel in town...he figured Caroline would back out if given much time to think about what they were about to do.

It was a fast and furious coupling...

....and Caroline did regret it almost immediately and walked (ran) out on Bert while he was in the bathroom.

Unfortunately she came home at 3:30 AM to a very awake and concerned Joe....

Well he was concerned until he got closer to Caroline who reeked of men's cologne...

...Joe asked her if she had been with another man, Caroline said she had only been out with Bert as a friend.
Joe didn't believe her at all.....

Caroline said she hugged Bert which is why she smelled like him, and they were talking at the diner which was open till 4:00 AM, both lies that she figured would cover her bad behavior of the night. Joe thought about it for a minute and decided to believe Caroline, she wouldn't cheat on him he concluded.
