Misunderstood Part 18:

The day started out wonderfully, Jared and Paulo shared a Birthday celebration since their Birthday's were so close together, Jared turned 16, Paulo turned 18 (I age them up to YA on their 19th Birthday)..

Jared decided to ask Joe if he could teach him how to drive. Joe to Jared's surprise said he would love to...

Joe had been spending more time with Caroline and the kids recently, Buster and Bessie were separated but the atmosphere at their house was tense when Joe tried to spend time with Bessie as Buster always seemed to be around even though Buster had started living up at the vacation house and did not live in the main house anymore (Bessie let Buster visit Xander whenever he wanted). Joe wanted to see Bessie and called to see if she would meet him at The Watering Hole a bar in town so they could relax and discuss finding a place of their own.

Bessie and Joe were excited at the prospect of finally being together and even discussed getting married after they found a house they could live in peacefully, the thought of finally being able to marry Bessie made Joe giddy.

The couple decided on having a few drinks while they were at the bar, Bessie only had two as she had to head out to work for the night shift and going in sloshed was not her idea of responsible.

Kisses flowed as freely as the drink....Joe was finally Happy!

Bessie was a little concerned with the amount Joe was drinking but he didn't need to be anywhere so she bit her tongue.

Joe jumped in his car, eager to get home and help out Jared with learning to drive...he and Jared had a tense at best relationship but the driving lessons were a source of fun/bonding for both of them.

The deer jumped out in front of the car so fast Joe had no choice but to swerve and try to miss it but with his drinking that night his swerve flung the car right into a huge tree ejecting Joe from the car which promptly burst into flames...

Joe felt no pain, but everything around him was going black, he heard a final scream in the distance and lost consciousness....

The scream came from Julia who witness the accident and immediately called the fire department screaming into the phone "Save him...oh God, I think he's dead!!!"

The kids all huddled around eager to find out why a cop and firefighter were visiting...Jared was just about to text Joe and ask when he would be home for more driving lessons, it had been 3 hours from when Jared texted him last and it was getting late.

Lucy the firefighter lead the kids out of the room, she knew from experience it was better if only the adults were present for such sad news.

Billy took a deep breath and tried to be gentle while telling Caroline about the accident...

The moment you mentioned Joe having a few drinks and finally being happy, I began to wonder.....
Oh Jared, don't allow yourself to believe this was your fault! :( He needs to find out the truth from Bessie! I can't imagine how hard the news will be for her... Plus we still gotta find out if Joe was his dad or not!?
Caroline should hook it up with Billy ( Tee hee! ;) ) He sounds like a sweet guy.

I must say: Very impressive staging of the car accident scene there!!! :star: And also with the family huddle.

@Mikezumi , I figure if George can kill off main characters in Game of Thrones (some of which I loved!!) because it's needed to move the story along I can do it too... :D ;) . I was originally going to konk off Caroline but that messed with how I want it to end. I dragged my feet on actually doing it in that update, I wasn't ready for him to go, I actually adore Joe and all his quirks (Joe being a Jared clone aged up). The next few updates will probably depress me...Bessie is NOT going to be happy with me. :s

This was a terribly sad update - Jared feeling guilty is the saddest part - but the screenshots were beautifully made! And thank you for making the cheat sheet, it's very helpful!

Misunderstood Part 19:

I dragged my feet on this one for days....It is a long one...

The next morning Jared was still feeling secretly guilty about Joe's death, and when his mom said she was going to tell Bessie about Joe's death he decided to go along for moral support.

Bessie was surprised to see Caroline and Jared at the crack of dawn.

Caroline didn't beat around the bush, she told Bessie strait out that there had been a horrible accident and Joe was killed. Bessie was stunned....

She couldn't believe it for a second then she realized she would never see the love of her life ever again, it was enough to twist her stomach and break her heart in two.

Caroline never realized just how much Bessie cared for Joe, she had always assumed Bessie was just a long time fling and she didn't love him. Seeing her break down and whisper his name over and over again in between sobs made Caroline feel for the woman.

Caroline went in the house and told a curious Buster and Xander what had happened, Xander took the news very hard. Buster was friends with Joe for years but since his and Bessie's separation he avoided Joe like the plague, he was sad but there was a tinge of relief in there too.

Xander felt dizzy all of a sudden and collapsed on the floor...his body and brain couldn't take the news that his father was gone.

After Xander came to he remembered the last time he had seen his father, it was 3 days ago and he and Joe talked for over an hour about anything and everything..it was a great time spent with his father....it was going to be a prized memory Xander thought to himself..

Jared saw how upset Xander was and tried his best to push down his own grief and comfort his half brother.

The next day everyone was getting ready for the funeral....sadness was all over, the mood was beyond somber.

Poor Connor was on the verge of 15 years old, he being the youngest was having a very hard time processing everything that had happened, all he really knew was that he was going to miss his father a lot.

@Charlottesmom Wow....so sad. I think it was awesome of Caroline to go tell Bessie and amazed and happy that Jared went with her. This had to be a hard chapter to work on and hopefully they will start healing now. I hope Jared and Xander can help each other.
