I've always used the Sims 3 camera on Sims 4 as I prefer the freedom it gives. I'll check my settings in Sims 3 when I next open up the game but I think I've got both camera options checked in Sims 3.
As for the forward and backward mouse controls, do you mean for zooming in and out? I'm not sure why that should be different for each game. I've got a Mac and my mouse scrolls/zooms according to the way I've set it up in my system settings, and then it works the same way for everything I do. Not sure if that's the issue you mean though?
I unchecked the settings in Sims 3. I think that my mouse in general is inverted compared to yours. I think I need the setting in sims 3 unchecked to match the Sims 3 camera setting in Sims 4, but I am not sure yet.
In Sims 3, I think the mouse controls are meant to be as similar as possible to the keyboard. I think Sims 3 overrides my general settings.
In Sims 4, I don't think we all have the same controls. In Sims 4, I think the Sims mouse controls are defined more by the computer's general mouse setting. I think my general mouse settings are inverted from my general keyboard settings, and I don't think Sims 4 overrides the general settings unless the Sims 3 camera is enabled.
