My sims won't go inside their house when they come home

@IreneSwift I care! It makes a difference when trying to track down the issue. :)

Have you tried just punching a hole into the fence? no gate- no fence- just a hole so that they can get inside? If that works, then I would suggest

first- moving the gate to another location on your fence
second- obliterating your whole fence and rebuilding it if the above option doesn't work
