Thanks for the info on aging. I had two standard gnomes (both gotten on the same trip through the catacombs!) and they just eventually aged and died. I don't seem to have much luck getting them - I never fish them up or get them in the mail, so I was so pleased to get the two finally, and now they're gone.
I've now got the miner in the game and received a second gnome of invention. I'm trying to conjure up a magic gnome, and I've got two parts of Llama-force Voltron. (Go-llama?)
I got three of the Mysterious Mr Gnomes from the letter box in this current game. And that is where all the gnomes came from in my original post. That particular game was crazy. If you send metal or gems to be smelted or cut then sometimes you get a message telling you that that gem or metal wasn't what it appeared to be and it was actually a gnome. Until this current game I haven't had a gnome out of the letter box for over a year. I think they may come if you have a big garden. I had the yard in that game full of plants. It was an old game and there was only one type of magic gnome in the game at that stage. Those gnomes were all hiding under plants and weren't obvious until I got the Sims to clear the garden because I needed the space to build a greenhouse.
You need to get 5 different llama parts for the mechanical gnome. And then it dies after a while. When I found one mechanical gnome tombstone on my lot I disassembled all the others but they still turned into tombstones even though they were not longer gnomes. The mech gnome I have in my current game has been around for a few Sim weeks now. I keep expecting him to die.
I just discovered that I got another freezer bunny gnome while I was distracted building the roller coaster. I just put it on the Exchange.
