Good luck with your gnomes. I have started naming all of my gnomes. I just accept the default name offered. I do this because if they don't have a name and you lose one, when you find it later on you are never quite sure if it is the one you lost or a new gnome. This is specially useful when they die - if you come across a tombstone and the gnome had a name the tombstone has the gnome's name and then you know which one is not around any more.
