@fatbat21 What world are you playing in currently? Test in Sunset Valley to see if it's any better.

If that doesn't help, try cutting your internet connection entirely while you play. If you launch TS3 through Origin, sign in and put Origin in offline mode, then turn off wifi and/or pull the ethernet cable.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag, post the results at pastebin.com or some other free filesharing site, and link it here.

@Rhiannon58 "On" is fine, and if it's not helping, try "Adaptive" next. Please make sure you're using the correct .exe for the game as well. You need TS3.exe for an Origin/1.69 install, and TS3W.exe (with the W) for a disc or Steam install.

Am just applying logic here rather than some kind of advanced knowledge of system hardware.

But that's a hardware configuration question, meaning it depends on the fans and the rest of the system. It's not a game-specific metric. The correct answer, I guess, is the speed at which is required to keep the laptop cooled. If the fans are leaping into super high gear (sounds like an airplane getting ready to take off) through routine gameplay, then you wouldn't want to prevent them from doing so or your laptop will overheat. Instead we would want to find out why the game is stressing out such a capable system so much, is the play environment too warm, maybe a laptop cooling pad is required, etc.
