You can play unpopulated worlds.
There's a post stickied at the top with shared Households for anyone to add to an empty world. You might miss out on a great world because the creator didn't want or didn't know how to use mods to add Sims to their world.

Most of the worlds I play tend to be unpopulated unfortunately.:/

in that case can anyone recommend a world that has most careers in so I dont need to place them. I dont mind putting households in though ?
