@Emily4331 - Thank you again for the suggestion, I was able to get some lovely expressions from Beau without even trying. Details below.
UPDATE:
I didn't have to try to upset Beau, the game did it for me! All of the plumbing in the house broke, the food went bad, the kitchen was a mess and someone left a book on the table as well as some spoiled food. Beau's day was off to a terrible start. I watched him as he became more and more aggravated with his environment and took screenshots all the while -- but he didn't duplicate the look or actions he did before. I updated the pictures in the link, so anyone who is interested could see his mood build. I also took double shots with and without the UI.
This time Beau animated like any other 'starving Sim', nothing new. He didn't fight me to get to the fridge each time I canceled it (I kept him out of the kitchen), instead he chose to do other things like mop the floor, dance or read a book. At no time did his eyes change or did he become as defiant as before. He did bare his fangs more than usual, though (given the situation, I don't blame him). I don't know what to make of the initial incident. I'm going to chalk it up to a one time thing.

Edit: I almost forgot. I did put the fridge in the family inventory after a long while. Just to see if that would push him over the edge - it didn't :(.
