Premade houses

I think I asked about premade houses in TS3 and someone said they had them. How do I access them? The only thing I see premade is premade rooms that I can piece together to create a house. But at the time I had a family who had just purchased a lot and was standing there in build mode. I then tried to go into edit town mode, selected an empty lot and chose to build on it. I'm not seen an option for a premade house.

Help a pathetic builder!

ETA: I guess I figured it out. I went into Edit town, went to a vacant lot that no one owned and then I saw I could place premade houses. THEN I moved my family from their vacant lot to their new house.

    You have your solution. But the explanation is that houses and other buildings that sims can actually enter (as opposed to rabbithole shells) are not considered objects in the game that can be moved around and placed. What we are actually placing from the Edit Town bins are entire residential or community lots that happen to contain houses or other enterable buildings. I know that sounds like mere semantics, but sims cannot own a lot that is then replaced with another lot, they have to be evicted or somehow disengaged from owning the lot that is to be deleted before a new entire lot can be placed for purchase.
