This is an early pic of the Memorial Gardens. After WW1 I am going to assume the good burgers of Fenbury wanted to remember their lost fathers and sons in some style. Some small places in the UK suffered huge losses. So Fenbury will have a Memorial Hospital, Memorial Cricket Ground and Memorial Gardens. Much as I dislike cricket as a sport, it was either a cricket ground or a memorial football stadium. I dislike cricket only marginally less than British football :D :D In terms of location the Memorial Gardens are next to the Town Hall. That will make it easier for the Remembrance Day ceremony.
