Purchasing Property from the Graveyard

I had one of my Sims visiting the graveyard so he could place the Dad Sims gravestone to rest and noticed two big box things in the graveyard and when I clicked on them it said purchase property. If one of my Sim families purchased a section in the graveyard then does that just open up another section of the graveyard that just that Sim family can use to place the tombstones? I like to place all the tombstones of Sims with the same last names together if I can but it's getting a little tight now, so a new section would be nice. Also, can the graveyard expand with more room in it by itself or does it stay the same size always and when it gets all the way full then you just couldn't place anymore Sim tombstones unless you removed other ones?

  • @Simmer2500 Well, if you purchase the property, you own the whole cemetery. You can fill it up as much as you want with headstones until there isn’t any room left. The graveyard cannot expand past the lot it’s on. For example, if it’s on a 30x30, it’ll always be that size. Yes, you could remove some, or build underground levels to add more. Another option is to build or download a 2nd cemetery for just your family. I did that and only fill it with descendants of my main family.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the info. I don't think the graveyard is really to the point of being totally full yet but some of the sections where I have put the most Sims with the same last name together is getting full. My Conroy family line is the one I have been playing the most so it's mostly from this Sim family. I have no idea how to build a new graveyard or underground levels if I were to later on though. I'll find a several more spots for now though. Also, I have never had a Sim family purchase any property in the game but one of the members of this household was a business partner of the hospital. That Sim is gone now but other members of the family still living in this house can still continue to collect the funds from it.
