Questions about the Legacy Challenge

If you are not going to play by the rules then to eliminate confusion it would be better not to say you are playing the legacy challenge. You can play a legacy style game or a multi-genrational game (how I usually refer to that style of game).
I only played one legacy challenge but didn't last past the 5th generation. I don't really like rules and didn't particularly like having to keep up with all the scoring - points for portraits, etc. And since it is easy to make money once you get started that is no challenge. It did broaden my simming experience since before then I hadn't brought many townies into my household and I found some of the traits I had avoided before to be fun to play.
Instead of playing with a set of rules I prefer to play scenarios following guidelines.
