I just realized I had these comments that I hadn't posted, so here they are.
Written before Loni moved out: I'm getting ready to have Loni drink the young again potion and set out on her own. I think I will have her join the military before moving out. With the IFs, I just moved them out unemployed. Brandi became a stylist, and Bekka is an investigator.
Brandi is married, has two children, and has retired. She just recently passed away. She was Bryan's IF.

So far, none of the Sims in my game ended up pregnant from alien abductions. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.
Welcome to the family Patty! So good that she and Bradley are good friends.
That's a nice house. The layout is unique. A very open concept.
Sorry to hear that Amy had passed away.
I have learned that the pause key and the tab key are my friends when it comes to screenshots and closeups. I have been known to toggle the pause key on and off several times to get the right shot. Then I will circle around the subject to get the right angle. Finally, I use the tab key and zoom in for the closeup.
The imaginary friends come in handy when you need Sims to master skills. Shayne didn't get an imaginary friend. I was a bit disappointed.

I'm glad to hear you are having fun with this challenge. I agree that the rules are a bit confusing at times.
As far as adding new people, the original rules said to have story progression turned off until the first child is born. The new rules don't mention story progression at all. I would say that once the first baby is born, that others may have heard about the survivors in your town and would start moving there.
I used the community garden in order to start their garden at the bunker but didn't even think to use it for them to skill up until their garden took off.
So Shannon is now a fairy. Sweet!
Poor Aileen, having been abducted. Glad to hear she likes nectar making and has taken up mixology. When she masters it you can add a bar to your world.
Adding an elixir store once someone masters alchemy is a good idea.
I've been trying to think what the requirements should be to add a consignment store. I can't think of any particular skills, but maybe once the town grows to a certain size. Like when the first child born in-game is an adult? They could open the store to sell the items they salvaged from the junkyard and fixed up for resale?
