I've been playing TS3 for a week now with just basegame and store content and having so much fun! (I love sims 4 but cannot imagine playing with just the basgame)
Today I added seasons and generations. So far, no lag, story progression is working well. My sim reads the newspaper and every other day, new families are either moving out or moving in, babies are being born, sims are dying of old age or drowning or some other mishap. All this without any mods at all! :) :)
