Using DE to make ambrosia should be fine, if you can get it to work. Using DE to resurrect a deceased sim directly seems to cause issues, it's like we end up with copies of the original sims and the relationships between them can become impossible to fix. That would be the kind of debugging command that it is usually better to avoid using.
This isn't really my area of expertise as I've never seriously tried to resurrect ghosts, but I bet a post on the NRaas forums might lead to some better or at least different answers as to what has worked well for other players, including possibly the MC option.
