I use the paid version of Bandicam and have no issues. For a while it seemed like it didn't record in high quality but once I play around with the video settings it records very very nicely! So, maybe before you write some of these off, play around with the video settings, google how to record high quality with whatever software you're using.
Onto a free option!
I use OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) to livestream and it has a regular recording mode that records the game and a mic. I haven't used the recording mode but I livestream a lot and it's decent quality.

I can jump in game and record with the local recording mode and upload it if anyone wants to see the quality.
