"God... That was amazing." I almost laughed, breathing heavily. "I mean... I knew you were good, but not
that good." I gave up on my staring contest with the wall and turned to gaze lovingly at him.
Clark looked smug and leaned in close, the tips of our noses smushing together. He stole a quick kiss before rolling off the bed and disappearing into the bathroom, leaving me sprawled across the bed in post-woohoo delight. After a moment or two I peeled myself from the covers and made my way to the shower down the hall. The guests would be arriving soon.
We were hosting a birthday party for our son today and I needed to look spectacular. My husbands boss would be here today and we absolutely
needed to impress him.
After about an hour the guests began to arrive, but one in particular felt that he didn't need an invitation inside. While I was making my way down the stairs, I spotted him by the window, toying with the chemistry set Clark had set up for work. Talk about a rude guest. I reminded myself to stay calm and take a deep breath before making my way over to him.
When he turned around, I was breath taken. This man was the spitting image of Robert Downey Junior! My mouth opened to speak with him, but nothing came out. My cheeks flushed and I turned away, quickly walking off to the kitchen.
I probably should have mentioned this before, but my husband's mother is a native of Isla Paradiso. His father raised him alone in Riverview, but his brothers grew up with her on the islands. They come to visit once in a while, and when they do, they often overstay their welcome.
His two brothers, Reiem and Nanji, had been with us for a week now, causing more trouble than Clark and I could really handle. They both practiced Witchcraft and weren't exactly the best either.
So when I walked into the kitchen to find Nanji in a cloud of green smoke, attempting to "clean" the counters, it wasn't a big surprise. The entire kitchen and living room had been flooded with water. I shook my head, visibly disappointed. Nanji looked apologetic.
That was when my son, Brody, crawled on into the kitchen. It was time! I searched around for a noise maker to cheer him on.
Once we finished our celebration, it was time for the real party to begin! There was music, laughter, story telling, and even an entertainer. Reiem's wife was a trained snake charmer.
In the end, the party turned out wonderful. My two best friends in the world, Hailee and Geo had finally gotten their happy ending. While relaxing in the living room, they made an announcement.
Hailee was pregnant.
