Sims 3 Food and Baking

I haven't watched the video, but I remember that in my own experience running a bakery was frustrating and unsatisfying. I just tried it once and never felt the need to try again. I love the set, though - it's among my favourite store content because it looks so pretty and the oven is awesome. Now I usually make a bakery with the decor from the set, but without the bakery shelves and till, and add a University barista bar so that my sims have a place to go for cakes and coffee.

The things I didn't like about running a bakery:

- you have to go into buy mode to place the baked goods on the shelf. The sim can't stock the shelves

- the customers come and buy the baked goods very quickly, then start doing something else. They never consume what they bought in the bakery.

The Cupcake mod from NRAAS will stock the shelves for you. It requires the premium bakery set from the store, though.

I need to have the cupcake mod to be able to play with the bakery. But I find it's worthwhile. Only thing to be careful of is to not have the cupcake mod in your mods folder if you haven't installed the bakery as that will prevent the game from loading and it can be very difficult to work out what the problem is.

I think the CInderellimouse mods are definitely worthwhile. She does the extra plants required too for the ingredients. And anything by icemunmun is great and worth having too. I don't have that Nonamena mod but do have other things by her and she's very good.

I made a mess last night with new mods. I was planning to start over soon anyway. It just happened sooner than I planned.

For now, I am just going to stick with cc.loader, the icemunmun mods that use only cc.loader, and other mods that work the same way. I need to be more familiar with the game itself before I start trying to tweak it too much. I was in over my head.

I really like the basic gardening and food system of Sims 3. I understand better now what the Sims 4 mods are trying to accomplish. Context is so important. At the very least, this time spent playing Sims 3 will make me a better Sims 4 player.

At first, the icemunmun mods made no sense to me! As soon as I understood the option that only needed cc.loader and the files that worked with just cc.loader, I knew what to download and install for a lite experience. Sometimes less is more.

For someone that knows more about all this, a beginners tutorial would be helpful, with a list of links to some compatible files that can simply be dropped into the packages folder. And then show a picture of the complete set of files as it looks in the folder, so someone can double check that they nothing extra and nothing missing.

I made the mistake of downloading and running exe files that I had no business playing around with. Each mod is linked to more mods that are linked to more mods that are linked to more mods. I was so confused. I am a bit above average in my computer skills. When I struggle, it usually means there is a large group of people struggling even more. I came very close to giving up. I had to go take a walk to walk off my anxiety, and then come back and start over at the very beginning, making sure to read EVERYTHING.

Same, I use NRAAS cupcake mod! Makes it so much better. Helps add realism if my sims have a birthday coming up and need a cake to celebrate :) The set itself is lovely though, I agree.

When I get the bakery, I am going to look for some videos about the cupcake mod. It sounds really good!

If you have Supernatural you can use a genie to summon any sort of food. I found that a good way to keep my bakery stocked before I added the cupcake mod. But the cupcake mod is easier as you don't have to use the genie. But using the genie is fun.

It took me a long time to figure out how to filter the Icemunmun mods to just the Sims 3 mods. Here is the link in case anyone else is having the same trouble.
