Sims 3 Origin Exclusive items?

Hi, I'm getting into the Sims 3 as of recent. However, I heard that there are special items available only to those who buy the Origin version. So I was curious, are these items still available if I buy off the EA Launcher? And if so, are they automatically added to my account, or do they send me a code to redeem?
