Sims 3 running on my laptop?

The Sims 3 ran fine on my old computer, but when I bought my laptop, I specifically asked, for one with the exact same specs, as I didn't want anything too high-end (i.e expensive) I just wanted the same computer in portable form.

The worker showed me this one, but The Sims 3 runs rather... terrible on it. Well, not exactly, it runs fine, but the default graphic settings are set to the lowest. So I raised the settings, and the graphics look better, so it IS capable of running higher graphics. The game doesn't run slow either, it loads fast, and plays at a good speed.

The only problem is, my laptop heats up massively fast while playing, the vents gets warm, and makes a loud hissing noise.

I was afraid to play it, in case my computer literally breaks down.

My specs are:

Windows 10

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.70 GHz

Installed Memory (RAM): 8.00 GB

System Type: 64-bit Operating System x64-based processor

I have 630GB of free space out of 930GB in total.

  • your processor and video card and integrated and not designed to run this game. Your laptop is designed for light computer tasks and not for running games like the sims. This game does have certain hardware requirements and this laptop does not meet those requirements. This game does require a mid range gaming desktop. Laptop hardware is weaker than desktop hardware. You do need a higher end gaming laptop to equal the requirements on desktop. Especially if one wants to run the whole game or the more demanding eps like Pets, seasons, Ip and itf.

With your laptop specs you may only be able to run the base game and a few earlier eps . Running the whole game on that laptop could do permanent damage to the laptop. heat can do damage to any computer but when you game , you generate allot more heat than browsing the web

if this is a new laptop and you can return it, I would. Buy something that meets requirements to run this game. People usually come in here and ask before buying a computer. Most sales people don't know what this game requires and will sell you a toaster if that sales person is getting commission
  • What is your video card, Your screen resolution and make and model laptop?
  • -1366x768

    -HP

    -Intel CORE i5 7th Gen

(I have no idea where to find my video card specs)
  • Windows key + R key will open the run box in the lower left hand corner of your computer. In the run box type DxDaig, hit ok, let it load and choose the save option. Your DxDiag will be saved as a text file in documents. Go to https://pastebin.com , sign up for a free account, upload the DxDiag text file there and then post a link to your pastebin DxDiag here Thanks

  • Sounds way too complicated... will this do?

  • Thank you so much :) I'll delete it immediately. Thankfully I still have my older PC in storage so I can get that back out.

  • Your very welcome. If you do return that laptop and want help with finding a computer that meets requirements, post back and someone can help you
