I found the daily deal this morning, eventually landing there after clicking through threads that linked to threads.
I have enough points to waste on experimenting, but I still do not totally understand something about all this. I have no idea what the spreadsheet is about.
Somehow I have Barnacle Bay. I bought a combination pack at EA, and ... I am a bit confused about what I bought. After I bought the "complete" pack and base game at Steam, I bought some stuff at EA, including a combination pack, and I thought I finally had it all. Then I found out that there was more at the store and that what I bought at EA came with some points for the store. It is all so confusing.
I have Riverview, Monte Vista, Hidden Springs, and Dragon Valley listed as "free". Barnacle Bay is not listed as free, but I can download it.
Yeah, it is all quite complicated when you’re new to it. I don’t know what you got on Steam but I guess it may have been the base game plus all the expansions and stuff packs except for the Katy Perry one (which I don’t think you can get any more). You probably know there are no game packs or kits like in Sims 4, but instead there is the Store to buy extra content using Sim Points, including more worlds, venues, BB and CAS, plus the exchange (like an earlier form of TS4 gallery). So there is loads of content on the Store but it’s pretty expensive at full price and Points get used up quickly if you don’t make the most of deals etc. You can buy more Points, but they cost a lot.
The Daily Deal rotation thread has loads of info on page 1 about how to make the most of your Sim Points, but it is a lot to take in and I had to read it over and over again to get the hang of what I wanted to know. Basically, every single day a number of Store items are on sale at a reduced price, each one for a limited number of hours only (2 or 3 hours, I can’t remember which). I think most (but definitely not all) the Store content is included in these deals, which rotate in a rotation that has been fixed since around 2014, so some very kind Simmers have worked out when exactly (day and precise time according to your region in the world) particular items will be on sale, and for how much, and they keep this list updated almost every day in the Daily Deal rotation thread, and also for the coming months on the spreadsheet so that you can plan ahead for upcoming deals. A lot of the items are included in the rotation multiple times but with a different reduction each time, so the colour coding on the spreadsheet shows you which is the best deal (I think green is the best and red is the worst). So I was tracking Sunlit Tides a while back and found when it would next be at its cheapest, and at a time when I was actually awake and not in the middle of the night (!), and then I bought it. It’s a great way to get more Store content for your Points.
You can also use Make Me An Offer on the Store to get reduced price content.
Sorry if you already know a lot of this already, or if this makes things more confusing than they were already! But hopefully something here might help a little, and hopefully you’ll get yourself some really good deals!
