Sims 3 Vanilla

I used to play with mods and cc but these days i just prefer to not cause both ts3 and 4 require so much space even without mod/cc additions you can barely run all the packs without issues anyway

one thing that always turns me off from playing ts3 though is how the sims look so i would probably need some CC if I were to play for more than quick nostalgia visit :sweat_smile:

I only have about 6 of the key NRAAS mods which for me are essential to keep crashes to a minimum. My game generally runs fast and smooth with pretty much all packs and almost all store worlds - but it does like to crash from time to time. It also takes quite a while to load and to save. I won't be adding any cc or other mods, and I don't have much store content. I've only ever been really interested in the store worlds and a few venues, which I now have, and I don't plan on getting any more sim points.

I do have most of the Store installed. I love my Store stuff. Some makes the game too easy and others make it more fun. I don't see Store as CC. :)

I used play the game without mods until about 2016 when I had finally figured out how to put them in as I had really wanted to have NRaas Traveler mod so that I could send my Sims to other worlds other than the world's from the World Adventure EP. Without that mod, it's impossible to visit the world's that came with the other EP' and the store worlds. The world's that you can travel to besides the WA worlds is the University of you have University and you're sending a sim to attend or to the future if you have the Into the Future EP. That's one of the things I like about TS4 is that you can travel between worlds or neighborhoods without the use of mods.

I used to play without mods when I first got the game in 2012 or 2013 (can't remember the exact year I started TBH). Sometime before or after 2015, I began playing with mods. The NRAAs mods were there to make the game run smoother, make inactive Sims get married/have babies, and offer custom careers. One of them would restock bakery shelves (NRAAs Cupcake), but if you put that in without having the bakery set from TS3 store, the game will not load (speaking from experience).

I also had some mods from MTS for minor problems (such as rabbit hole doors) and adding more gameplay. Nowadays I couldn't imagine playing without mods. As for CC, I use a default skin and default eye replacement because the EA version didn't look good.

I am playing a mostly vanilla game. I keep meaning to download and try out the NRAAS mods but never have. I did have a yoga mod for a while but it kept glitching. Now I have a few items but nothing that is really a mod.

The food mod that repeatedly threw my sim outside the house was by the same modder as the yoga mod. I think I will remove it just to be on the safe side.

I am not meaning to badmouth modders! With Sims 4, there were things that I blamed on mods to only find out later that the problem was the game itself glitching, not the mod I was using at the time. But at least when I am playing vanilla, I know it is the game that is the problem, so problem solving is more efficient.

As a newer player, I am appreciating the tutorial and explanation popups from the EA story progression. Maybe in time, as a more advanced player, I will appreciate the NRaas story progression but not yet. I found the NRaas popups disruptive and distracting instead of interesting and helpful.

I'm fiddling around to figure out what I care about most vs what is really not that big of a deal. Some mods have side effects and I had no idea how severe some of them were until I tried the game without them. I was layering mods to take care of side effects of other mods. This got out of control.

The thing I hate most about vanilla sims in sims 3 is their flat faces and their wispy hair. Yes, all the other little tweaks add a little more polish, but they don't each make the same drastic difference. I am keeping the default skin replacement and I will add nondefault hair only to the very few sims that I am playing or having a relationship with. I never did try to override all the hairs. That must be a huge load on the game!

I am not even adding most of the store content that I own and will be buying very little more of that. I only installed the Tab 6000 and the Stiff as a Board Light as a Feather pack for my current save.

I have one CC hair, a pair of sneakers, and a notebook, and a yoga mat.

I added back in more food mods than I want to keep. I am going to take some back out again and I am not going to buy more of the farming and baking and retail stuff from the store.

The game is running much faster and providing all sorts of pop ups that were previously disabled. Mods cause us to lose something as well as giving us something.

Taking out the NRaas mods is making the game run better initially, but I am worried about long-term.

My problem right now is Windows I think. I started having problems after the first update at the beginning of the month, and my computer has been updating continually with drivers and then Windows itself again and then the drivers again. The start up time is horrible. I might reinstall Windows from scratch, but that is a lot of work if it just redownloads the same problems. In the past, reinstalling has sometimes worked much better than trying to repair after an update though.

Yes, Store is not CC! am looking more closely at the store hairs to see if I like any of them. I do find that the Store stuff slows my game down even more than the expansion packs, though. Is it added to the game differently?

I really want to keep the default replacement skin. I don't mind the EA eyes that much, but I am so thankful we have so many mod options for skin.
