Solution For Lunar Lakes Mailbox Issue

I was recently building in Lunar Lakes and noticed if i made a new property or bulldozed a current one, the mailbox was reverting to a "classic" Sims 3 mailbox (white Victorian style). After some heartache and messing around with testingcheats, i figured out a simple fix for the problem. Here's how. 8)

Step 1. To change a "classic mailbox" back into a "Lunar Lakes" mailbox, you must bulldoze the property back to "empty lot". Lot needs to be 100% empty.

Step 2. Save any small lot with a "Lunar Lakes" default house to the your library(smaller houses are easier to place on any size lot)For example, i used "Icarus Nest" residence. (default houses are the ones that came pre-made/installed in your neighborhood, in other words a house the game built, default houses will have a Lunar Lakes mailbox with them)

Step 3. Go to your "Show empty houses" tab at the "Edit Town" screen. Select your copied default Lunar lakes house, now place that house at the property you want to "restore" the mailbox at. Your property should now have a small house with a Lunar Lakes mailbox on it! :D

Step 4. !!IMPORTANT!! Until EA fixes this bug, you cannot EVER bulldoze a Lunar Lakes property, or else you LOSE the modern mailbox. In order to keep the modern mailbox, you will have to MANUALLY (click and drag the delete hammer) delete everything on the lot. After you delete the small house and its surroundings, you should only have a Lunar Lakes mailbox and a trash can left.

Step 5. Congratulations, you have your Lunar Lakes style mailbox back! If you lose your mailbox again by accidental bull dozing repeat Steps 1-4.

Goodluck! If this was already solved, my apologies, if this helps you, then...Your welcome! :-)

The game is from more than half a decade ago. Still, we play it and if this solution is a good one, simmers can benefit from it.

But the solution posted is essentially the same thing 2 posts above. The mods have been cracking down on necro'ing ancient threads recently.
  • I didn’t read it, not having the problem. Just saw ‘differently’ ;) I’m sure the mods will crack down this topic as well.

Look at the dates. The original post is from 2012. At which time they were correct, you had to use a mod or something to get the store world mailboxes back after bulldozing a lot. Which was really annoying. Some time after '12 though, they fixed it so you can get a new mailbox from buydebug. So @KuramaSims is correct now, but wasn't 5 years ago.
  • Good advice, thanks, but, I use the mods. much quicker.

Would be nice if they decide to fix this but, doubt they will anytime soon.
  • I searched for a mod once or twice, but its so new that its not very common atm, and mods sorta put me on high alert, since i know how it is to use a buggy glitchy mod. A few bad experiences pretty much put me off mods. I only run to CC when i cant afford sim points lol!
  • I don't use mods either. The way you described is the only way I can keep the mailbox.
I already have two lots in LL with that old mailbox because I put houses from other towns and remodeled them.

From now on I will just build from scratch. I hope they will supply us with a mailbox that will look right.
  • Most mods won't cause a problem, particularly if they're simple items like mailboxes and the like. The problems start happening when you have mods that modify or change the game's scripted behaviour in some way.
  • thanks for the info! just started playing lunar lakes and did not know about this issue....one of many i'm experiencing!!!
