That sometimes happens when the game is not properly / really closed, most often when you try to restart after a previous crash. Try the "Windows-remedy": restart your Mac to make sure there's no ghost of the crashed game swerving around somewhere.
If that doesn't help, I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to help you, as this error message in itself is quite unhelpful in it's wording. :s
