The Consignment Store

I'm pretty sure that the Consignment Store was one of the community lots that I chose to place into the neighborhood when it asked if I wanted to place new community lots in the neighborhood after I installed the Ambitions expansion pack but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. I looked all over the whole neighborhood in the edit town mode and I don't see it. I went to a tab in the edit town mode that said show community lots and I found a couple Consignment Stores in there and it had and option to place a copy of it into the neighborhood. I tried that but it won't let me place it anywhere in the neighborhood. I think it said it needed a 30x30 lot space, so I'm not sure if that is why it won't let me place it into the neighborhood or not but it seems like there should be a lot somewhere in the neighborhood that it could be placed on. I wanted my self-employed inventor Sim to not only sell his inventions from his inventory but also to the Consignment Store. How do I place this community lot back into my neighborhood?

Look for an empty 30x30 lot, click on it and then change the lot type to consignament store. Then try again to place the consignament store. This lot will now show up as available.

Okay, thanks. I had tried setting an empty lot to community lot type and then picked Consignment Store and it wouldn't go into the spot but I'm not sure what size that lot was. I guess that empty lot just wasn't big enough. I also, bulldozed down one of the bigger empty houses and tried to place it there thinking maybe since it was a bigger lot it might let me place it but it wouldn't go there either. But, maybe that's because hadn't set the lot type to community lot on that bigger spot before trying to place it, so maybe if I tried setting that bigger lot to community lot type and Consignment Store then it seems like it should let me place it back into the neighborhood. I don't remember what size that lot was but it had a pretty big pre-made house on it. I will have to go back and check again in the edit town mode.

Yes, do that. I think if the lot is bigger the store will fit. But if it doesn't work, look around for a 30x30 lot just in case...

Yeah, it seems like if the lot is bigger than 30x30 the Consignment Store should fit but I was wondering about that if it didn't work even on a much bigger lot that it was probably because it wanted it to be exactly 30x30. I'll try it and see if it works though when I go back into the game.
  • The original Ambitions lot needs a 20x30 lot (20 at the front), the second one that came from a different pack needs the same size, but turned by 90 degrees (30 at the front). 30x30 would be the Elixir Consignment Store from Supernatural.
  • Even though your lot appears empty there might be something on it. SAVE the game, THEN bulldoze the lot. For SURE, it must be set to a community lot first. You can change a residential lot and be neighbors with the consignment store if you like. The one that EA built for Twinbrook or Appaloosa Plains should fit in a neighborhood nicely.

Yeah, I figured that out when I went back into edit town mode and tried setting that bigger lot that I had bulldozed a big pre-made house from to community lot and Consignment Store but it didn't work to place it there. It was bigger than a 30x30 lot and the other empty lots that I had previously tried setting to community lot to place the Consignment store on were 30x30 lots and it wouldn't let me place it on those lots. I looked back to what size lot it said the Consignment store I was trying to place was and it needed a 30x20 lot size. It wouldn't let me place it on any bigger lot and seemed to want it to be one that was exactly 30x20. I looked and found and an empty lot that was 20x30 as you said and changed the lot type to community lot and Consignment Store and then it let me place it back into the neighborhood just fine.
  • If you're trying to place a building on a lot that won't accept it, there are a couple reasons why that could be.

If you're sure the lot is large enough, and its set to commercial, then maybe there is a rock or gem or insect spawner stuck on the lot that you cannot see. What I do is go into buy/build mode, draw a wall on the lot, then exit back to map view and use the bulldozer to delete the contents of the lot. Only delete once so you don't remove the lot itself.

Then try to place your wanted building on the lot and see if it works.

Well, It's possible there might have been some rocks or something there. The lot from the large pre-made house that I bulldozed looked like there might have been a pond or something on the lot because it looked like the was water there. All the lots I was trying to place on were residential lots that I set to community lot and Consignment store but since it didn't let me place them on those lots I set them back as residential lots. However, I think the reason it wouldn't let me place the Consignment Store on those bigger lots had more to do with the fact that the game seemed to want it placed on exactly a 30x20 lot space and not anything bigger than that. Anyways, I found an empty 20x30 lot space that I set to community lot and Consignment Store and it let me place it back in the neighborhood onto that lot just fine.
