The Cowboy and the Mermaid

Lorelei goes back upstairs and sits down on the loveseat. Dwight comes out of the bathroom, fresh out of the shower and sits next to her. "Everything ok?"
"Well, I feel a bit unsettled this morning. I have a lot more pressure in my back and have been having small contractions since I woke up. Today might just be the big day!"
"Your bags are packed and the car is on standby. I think everything is ready for the trip to the hospital. Why don't you get dressed and we will leave."

Lorelei stood up to go get dressed, she grabbed her belly as a particularly strong contraction hits her. Dwight alarmed gets up to support her.
"Oh my, yes, that one is a lot stronger!" Lorelei exclaims.
Lorelei breathes through the contraction as she was taught and Dwight flaps his arms and dances around in a bit of a panic. "We need to go to the hospital. Lets hurry to the elevator as soon as the contraction is over."

Lorelei changes her clothes and tells Dwight she is ready.

She starts to turn to the elevator and grabs her tummy again. "There is no time. The baby is coming!" she shouts.
A calmness descends over Dwight replacing the previous panic he had felt as he watched her have the first hard contractions. He talks with her softly and calmly and tells her "You can do this, breath slow, in and out." His voice soothes her as nothing else could and soon baby Erin is born. Baby Eric soon follows, and last but certainly not the least was baby Austin.

Dwight looks a bit awed and quiet as he looks around the room at the babies. He holds Eric and quickly got his clothing changed as he was soaked. Lorelei is feeding Austin who seemed to be the hungriest of the three. He snuggles and plays with Eric and then places him in a bassinet and picks up Erin who also got a change of clothing. He decides changing babies isn't too hard if you make faces at them while you are doing it. He thinks to himself he needs to call Logan and see if he can arrange a delivery of a couple more cribs and baby things. They only have one crib and one high chair and a couple of the bassinets. He finds himself choked with emotion and so much love it almost overwhelms him. He watches Lorelei as she feeds Austin and he thinks to himself that a year ago he was ready to give up on life. Tears fall from his eyes as he realizes all that he would have missed. He sends a prayer thanking God for saving his life so he could have this blessing.

Lorelei finishes feeding Austin and burps him and puts him in the bassinet. She is so happy she claps and does her happy dance. Dwight watches her and he loves seeing her do that little dance of hers. He puts Erin in the crib and texts Logan announcing the birth of not one, but three babies! Logan texts back a congratulations and arranges to have extra cribs and supplies delivered right away. Dwight walks over to Lorelei and takes her face in his hands. "You are an amazing woman! I'm the luckiest man to have you in my life. You gave birth to three babies today and you are up and dancing and happy. You are going to be the most amazing Mom ever. I love you so very much." After he kisses her nearly senseless Lorelei smiles up at him. "You are my strength, my rock and my heart. You kept me focused with your soft words and your calmness. The two of us can do anything together, even raise triplets! I love you with all my heart. You will be the best Dad ever." They stand holding each other until they hear the horn on Logan's truck letting them know he has arrived with the needed supplies. They are blessed with very good friends as well.

(apparently merbabies don't have scales, so, we will not know which of the kids are merfolk until they are toddlers)
