The Cowboy and the Mermaid
The emergency Dwight discovers is that Mary-Sue Pleasant lost her wallet. He understands a new PI can't be too picky about the type of cases he takes or when. She recalls having it with her at the beach, but it was missing when it came time to pay her bill at the Bistro. The ever gallant Mayor of Sunlit Tides paid her bill to get her out of trouble with the Bistro and recommended that she call Dwight as he knows Dwight has recently opened his business.

He thinks how he would feel if Lorelei had lost her wallet and no one helped her. He gets out his magnifier and flashlight to help him search. He jots a few notes down to remind him of where he has searched. He tiptoes across the lot thinking a sandwich would be good right about now. Interesting, he finds her drivers license just laying on the ground. That means someone took the wallet and the rest of its contents.

A third person confirms the name of the man at the beach, one Alonso Candelaria. He will need to find a way to speak to this man.

Our lady with the ghost problem looks a bit familiar. I think Mr Ghost Buster likes the way Mary Sue looks from what he can see at the door. Dwight decides to wait at the park across the street, but it seemed as if this ghost collecting activity was going to take several hours so he decided to head home and talk with the man tomorrow.

The alarm went off and the burglar ran away before the police even arrived. The officer is explaining to Dwight and Dwight sends him on his way.
(Dwight is brave and it really irks me when the game refuses to let a brave sim go fight a burglar. I wish I knew why this happens sometimes! It has happened twice since they moved to this house.)https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48080421782_605a2521bd_b.jpgDwight hugs and reassures Lorelei that all is well. The babies slept through the racket from the alarm. They get back in bed and fall asleep in each others arms.

He introduces himself, makes a bit of small talk, asks about his job and a few other minor inquiries and then zings him with the knowledge that he took Mary-Sue's wallet as well as set her up for the ghost attack last night. "How....how did you figure that out? I'm sure no one saw me." he stutters. "You dropped her license at the beach and I was hired to find her wallet and found you because people did see you." Dwight explains. "Oh man, I'm so embarrassed" Alonso blushes bright red. That was not the reaction that Dwight was expecting. "Why did you do it?"
Alonso explains that he had seen Mary-Sue around town and had a bit of a crush on her. When he saw her drop her wallet, he was hurrying to give it back to her, but she left in a cab so quickly he didn't get to her in time. He checked her address on her license and that must have been when he dropped it. He decided she might like him better if he was a hero so he introduced some ghosts, not evil ones, just mischievous ones, to her home that evening while she was at work and made sure he got the call when she called about the ghosts. He dispatched the ghosts and they had a nice talk afterwards and he felt so bad because she had been so frightened that he forgot to give her back the wallet. "She's a really nice lady and I was really stupid scaring her like that." He gives it to Dwight and all the money is intact. Dwight thanks him for his honesty and suggests he might try being honest with Mary-Sue. "She has already been hurt by one husband playing games and she doesn't need another man in her life like that."
Dwight takes the wallet back to Mary-Sue and suggests she call Alonso as he has something to tell her.
