The random sad flute music: explained

I have seen a lot of posts on the random sad music that people hear whilst playing, and nothing has happened in their active household to cause it.

It has nothing to do with your household, the music plays when somewhere in your town a child is taken away by social services because they are being neglected.

Hope this answers your questions.

  • I didn't know that! I wondered. LOL I kept looking for something broken or something wrong. Thanks! :)
  • Finally an answer! It's been happening so much in my game lately. The only thing I could think of was that perhaps it had something to do with perfect plants dying (my sims are huge gardeners) and it seemed to happen then.

But this probably makes more sense. Thanks for the explanation! :)
  • I'm thinking more anything such as death, break-up, or children being taken away are all things to trigger it. If the sad music played all the time just for children being taken by social services, then I wouldn't have any children left in my town!

Oh and Smash_box, I saw your siggy, congratulations to you both! :D
  • After hearing the music, the next days it often says how a sim has died, so i'm pretty sure that has something to do with it
  • I was wondering about that. I hear it a lot around 1am in my current game for some reason and not much during other times of the day or night.
  • Thank you so much! I heard that sound about three times last night, and I kept trying to figure out what it was. I just thought Sims were dying somewhere! Wow, the Sims in my town must really hate children.
