The Sims 3 64 Bit (Mac)

Yeah, I have been following it but, I have fallen behind and I am lost now as it is now hard to follow. I was just hoping that someone here has been following and can update.

If you're still looking for an answer, no, nothing's been fixed. For crashing issues on Macs with integrated graphics chips (Intel HD or Iris Graphics), it can help to play in windowed mode and/or to turn the graphics settings down to the minimum. The game also apparently crashes a lot when people try to place a household that contains a pet, again just with Macs that have integrated graphics chips. So far I don't know of any fix other than to not create households with pets.

If you do find a way to play without crashing, whether it's some combination of settings or something else, it would be great if you could share it either here or on AHQ. A number of people have said that playing on the lowest graphics settings helped, but they haven't posted back to say whether raising any particular setting causes more crashing, so I have no idea which settings are responsible.

It would also make a potential fix more likely (how much more likely, I have no idea) if EA knew which setting or settings were causing crashes on which hardware. Right now, there are a lot of deviceconfigs and a lot of error reports, but nothing definitive enough to pinpoint the cause.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you for the update. If I do find a way to play, I will definitely let you know. Unfortunately, my game isn't cooperating so I am not playing until there is a fix. I hope there is one soon.

@puzzlezaddict I was able to play the Sims 3 for about 20 minutes last night. I removed the saves folder from my game and started a fresh one. However, the game froze after 20 minutes and I lost my save. I hope a fix comes soon!

Could you post the first 40 lines of your deviceconfig here? (It's in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.) You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's no other identifying information in that file.

Please also let me know which packs you have installed and what world(s) you've been playing in.

Try turning down the lighting and tree tree detail to the lowest settings, and let me know whether that makes a difference.

Please also let me know what world(s) you're playing in, and which packs you have installed. If you're not playing in Sunset Valley, Twinbrook, or Riverview, please test in one of those worlds as well, just for comparison. And let me know whether you use mods or custom content. It's fine if you do, just useful to know.

@puzzlezaddict I am playing in Islo Paridiso right now. I have installed the following packs: Pets, Into the Future, University, Island Paradise, Seasons, and Ambitions. I have no Mods or CC (and never used them).

I was able to play for 45 minutes today. However, the game would freeze every 30 seconds.

Isla Paradiso is still just as poorly made as it always was. It doesn't crash as often in the 64-bit version because the game can use as much memory as necessary, but the game engine is still going to struggle to fix stuck sims and deal with various other issues. Please test in Sunset Valley, Riverview, or Twinbrook for comparison.
