This isn't a windows 8 problem, it's occurred to me on windows 7 before and I never fixed the problem I just switched from disc to digital which was expensive and ******* annoying.
& Now it has happened on my windows 8 system and if there really isn't a way to fix this then I will be beyond peeved as sims was the reason I got my new PC.
