I play on a 25" 2560 x 1440 monitor and when I would try to run the game higher than that with DSR, the UI started to shrink so bad it was difficult to click on things. S3 UI is still kinda small on that monitor of mine I mentioned but I can still manage just fine. It would defiantly get worse on a smaller monitor. I have not tried my new 28" monitor yet.
So again while a bigger monitor would be helpful considering you have a 22", it's not going to fix the original issue with the UI scaling. A bigger screen will certainly give you more screen space though...
