That's a good idea, but having to spruce up every other lot just for sim dates is a little tedious unfortunately.
We all have different approaches to and takes on what we think is tedious vs. half the fun. I love sprucing up community lots that I intend my sims to use long-term (as long as it doesn't cost my active household anything unless they actually own it). Not every project is a major gut renovation though some are, nor does every attempt need to be an award-winning design job. Sometimes it's just a matter of throwing some fun things and food service options onto an already existing lot that I like or can tolerate the design of. Then, depending on the venue, I might slap an entry fee on the place by way of either the Barrier to Entry ticket machine from the store set or by using NRaas GoHere to charge for admission. If it all works out well, then the lot gets saved down to the community lot bin for potential use in other worlds. I have to admit there's nothing fun about redesigning the same bowling alley, casino, or other enclosed space almost exactly the same way each time I want to use one.
There are so many EA-made community lots that are just plain boring to me, but to be fair they did bend over backwards to not include EP or store content when designing those outside of EP worlds because not everyone would have the required objects installed for them to work otherwise.
