Lately I have been trying out a few smaller worlds to. Out of the ones I've tried so far I would definitely recommend any of the fallowing.
(MSR: Redwood harbor) its really small and kind of looks like the three lakes world you posted.
(rabiereandco: ile de calisope) It was monte vista before there was a monte vista. Its small and very compact, loads quickly.
(KayPapagei :Woodleigh Isle ) Its small and has a bit of everything (all exp + Store items) , You can find it on the sims 3 exchange.
(BlackCat Sims: Newtown shire world) Its small and Kinda square but it runs like a dream. its very pretty if your into fantasy worlds
