Tips for a Successful Acrobat

Hi, I'm trying out the acrobat profession. My sim is at lev 9 and has maxed out athletic skill. At first when he was at a lower level and just beginng his shows, he had really good reviews. Now, all he gets are mediocre reviews. I've read guides and adjusted his traits, but what else is there? I tried having him audition at the Porta Party place, but the proprietor said his skill was "too low." How can I get good reviews for my sim and what skills does my sim need to get into the Porta Party place?
