I have never used mods in my game (with the exception of pose player once for very specific reasons). I think some of them look really cool, though.
I would get story progression and the one that gets rid of abandoned cars. I am happy with my game without them, though. I haven't had any problems (except those silly cars) -- I just go and edit the lot to get rid of them sometimes or use a kleptomaniac to deal with them, lol. I like my kleptos.
