Total disk and offline?

Are there any players who install all disk and truly offline (disconnected from internet including wifi)? Does your game work? Does it install properly, including the Origin launcher? Does that behave itself or does it eventually force you to connect, for example for a patch? Then what about your store content? Does that install properly from a saved Sims 3 package without an internet connection?
I ask because if so I might consider buying second-hand (my brother whom I lent mine to ... threw them out, so he says, but I bet he sold them)
I'm pretty sure I remember that when I still had my disks, I was able to install all of it, and play offline.
I wonder if I have all the folders/files including the patch from back then somewhere? Maybe on my old computer ... that would be fun - a whole bunch of data offline and unshared.
What ever happened to the players who used to claim they played without the launcher? Is that still working? How do I do that?
Looks like the MyPage is starting to get iffy now too, on and off. Luckily I made copies of all that a while ago. It won't be long now, the same fate that befell The Sims 2 exchange and BBS will happen to 3.
I won't be assimilating into 4 though, too babyish.
