Trying to improve screenshot quality and need help....

I've been revisiting my Sims 3 game recently and thought it would be fun to try to really maximize the quality of the graphics. I'm on an old Asus gaming laptop with Nividia GeForce GTX 560M that uses 3DTV Play for 3D management, I guess? (This stuff is *whoosh* over my head - I am NOT a tech-savvy person - so I probably won't be using the correct terminology here.)

I really want to clean up my screenshots taken when my sims are near water. The reflection distortion around the sim is driving me crazy. I've tried to research this and just see a lot of people saying, 'that's the way it's supposed to be, you can't change it', but I've seen some beautiful screenshots of sims near water that DON'T have this distortion and I've been wondering... how?

I'm struggling to find relevant info these days, I guess because the game is so old now, and the only other mention I've seen of this issue, someone said that it didn't happen when they were using iz3d. Does anyone here know anything about iz3d and if so, could you explain it to me? Like, is iz3d an alternative to my 3DTV Play and would it work with my graphics card? I did see that it isn't supported anymore, but pretty much the only thing I do on my laptop is play Sims so if it would work with that it would be good enough.

I also have Reshade 2.0 installed. Again, I know NOTHING about this stuff, but is it possible there's a Reshade shader that would correct this?

Any info at all would be GREATLY appreciated. :)

  • You may wish to post this question on the TS3 Help section of ModTheSims. There are a number of players over there who are adept with using Reshades and various tools to get the effects you desire and they may be able to better help you work through this. :)

  • Thanks @igazor , I might try that. I think I'll give up for now and let my tired brain rest, lol, but when I'm ready for round #2, I'll ask there. Thanks for pointing me in that direction! :)
