I'm from the deep south ... Australia! LOL
My son would drink soda to the exclusion of everything else (except his morning coffee). He gets excited when I find Dr Pepper at a local store since he grew up on the stuff and Pepsi, courtesy of his American dad even though I insisted it not be kept in the house. I was hoping I would break him of the habit when we moved back to Australia but it seems that once addicted, always addicted :# I have been successful in at least getting him to drink tea on occasion.
The moon pies look like Australian Wagon Wheels to me but probably smaller.
