I just recently installed UL, haven't actually done anything with it yet, other than using the clothing and hair for some of my current sims. I only just installed WA a couple of weeks ago, and am raising a child who is going to start adventuring as soon as she reaches YA. I wanted to find out now, while she's just a child, if it would be possible for her to do some adventures when she and her family are on vacation, when she's a teen. So I started a new game, using my teen runaway household, and sent her to China to find out. When my teen returned home, no sooner had she reached her home again, when the University mascot showed up with the welcome kit. I was not expecting this, as she has not even spent one day in high school yet. When my current household returned from the adventure they had been on when I installed UL, the mascot showed up as soon as they got home, but they are YA. I wasn't expecting this to happen to the teen. Does the university mascot show up to every household at the beginning of their game?

So, once it comes, if I want it for future generations, do I need to keep it, or will the mascot come again if someone finishes high school and the family doesn't have one anymore?

From my most recent game, the mascot has come everytime a new young adult becomes a part of the household. If I remember correctly, it also showed up when the teen became a young adult.

I wouldn't bother deleting it, if you do, then the next time you load your save, the game will put another one in your household inventory and it will keep doing this unless you put it somewhere on your home lot.

@Marmy, does your sim's house have a fence with a celebrity gate? I've found that if the mascot can't get to the front door, he/she will come back again and again, usually at night, and leave another welcome kit in the household inventory. If you open the gate all night just once so he can come to the front door, he won't come back again after that.

Wow, that one sounds really persistent. I would probably use NRaas Register to remove their assignment from that role, but of course the game will likely just assign or spawn a different NPC sim to take their place. I am certain there must be mods available from other sources that suppress the reassignment altogether.It sounds like they really like your household, though. One of the fun things to do with an overly friendly mascot is to roll with it and have one your sims seduce them with the goal of seeing whether they keep their mask on during woohoo and then later if/when they fall asleep. I won't give the answer away. :)

I love that mascot coming to my sims house. It's good for your new sims, the adult ones, you can ask for mascot training. And I really find it funny when it's doing the Llama Gangnam Style...lol :#

I freaking HATE that stupid mascot!!! It comes to my sim's house EVERY SINGLE DAY. Sometimes more than once a day! At first I was deleting the baskets, then I thought if I kept one in my inventory maybe he/she/it wouldn't come again. FOOLISH ME. My sim is a YA and he hasn't expressed a wish to go to university so I'm not going to send him...Is there no end to this madness????

@Marmy - There's actually some fun things that we can do with the mascots. And for those not averse to using mods, there are ways to suppress them. But can we confirm first that we are still talking about TS3 here and not TS4?

Yes it's TS3 and no, the stupid mascot can get to the front door just fine. At one point I had SIX welcome kits on my front porch. This is getting so old.

There's a mod by Blugenjutsu over at Naughty Sims it's the "No Mascot Intro Situation (requires University EP)". You'll need to register to download it, but it will stop the mascot from showing up.

I have mods that keep the camera from panning to the Mascot and the Time Portal. Thank goodness!
