I think the advise Mariesalias gave was actually the best. Resetsim is what will clear up the problem. And you can always reset your own sim by typing in resetsim firstname lastname (with your sims first and last name in it's place. Any sim, for that matter).

Also, overwatch and errortrap from Nraa's mods will probably help clear things up in Riverview as well. I'm just now playing a family in Riverview, so I can't say if I've had that problem or not, since I have overwatch and errortrap installed, I might never catch the issue.
